About me

JACKIE SCANLON Counsellor Dip. Couns. MBACP (Accred)Welcome and thank you for visiting my website.

I am an accredited counsellor based in Lindfield near Haywards Heath, West Sussex. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and trained in an Integrative Approach to counselling.

I provide a private counselling service for individuals and couples in Haywards Heath, Lindfield, Cuckfield, Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint, Forest Row, East Grinstead, Horsham, Crawley, and Crowborough.

As well as my private practice in Lindfield, I am a volunteer at As You Are Centre, an organisation which offers low-cost counselling for people living in the Brighton and Hove area. My work there involves assessing clients for their counselling needs, recruiting new counsellors, and running training courses on assertiveness. I am passionate about my voluntary work since I strongly believe everyone should have access to counselling despite their financial position.

Also, I have provided counselling services at a local doctor's surgery where I worked with clients referred from their GPs.

My philosophy is a humanistic approach which means that every person has the capacity to grow towards their own unique identity and reach their own potential. Integrative counselling encourages a person to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. I believe everyone has the resources necessary to know what is best for themselves.

As an integrative counsellor I work with three distinct models - person-centred, transactional analysis and Gestalt. This gives me the flexibility to use techniques to suit you, because what works with one client may not necessarily work with another, making it a flexible, custom made service.

My aim

I like to think of counselling as your time to explore your life, thoughts, feelings and difficulties that you may be experiencing. I provide a warm non-judgemental, caring and attentive environment where you can explore these issues - in absolute confidence.

My role

I will help you to explore and make sense of your situation and find your own answers. Problems and issues can burden us and prevent us from enjoying our lives and reaching our full potential. These difficulties include:

I offer short- and long-term individual counselling and therapy for adults and adolescents; I also offer a reduced rate for students.

At your first session, which is free of charge, we will discuss your needs and what you hope to achieve in our time together. I would encourage you to visit different counsellors until you find one that you feel you can work with.
